The College of Natural Resource Management (CNRM) Katari is a distinguished constituent college of the Faculty of Forestry under the Agriculture and Forestry University. As the sole constituent college within the Faculty of Forestry, CNRM plays a pivotal role in advancing forestry education and research in Nepal. Established in 2075 BS, our college is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of forestry professionals equipped to manage and conserve our nation’s precious natural resources.

Our Location

CNRM is located in the vibrant town of Katari, a municipal hub in the Udayapur district. Katari serves as a gateway to some of Nepal’s most scenic and culturally significant destinations, including Solu, Okhaldhunga, and the Halesi Mahadev Temple in Khotang district. The town is easily accessible, situated just 28 km north of Mirchaiya along the East-West Highway and 221 km northeast of Kathmandu via BP Highway. Katari itself is home to a population of approximately 60,000 residents, providing a multiculturally rich and supportive community for our students.

Academic Programs

Currently, CNRM offers a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Forestry, a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable forest management. Each year, we enroll 54 bright and motivated students into this program, preparing them for careers in forestry, conservation, and natural resource management. Our first cohort of students successfully graduated in 2080 BS, marking a significant milestone in our journey. The Faculty of Forestry topper in 2080 was from CNRM Katari, a testament to our academic excellence within the Faculty of Forestry.

Our New Campus

Since its inception, CNRM Katari has been operating from the premises of Udayashree Multiple Campus in Katari. However, we are excited to announce that our new, state-of-the-art college building is now complete. Located approximately 4 km east of Katari’s downtown area on the Madan Bhandari Highway towards Dharan, this new facility will provide a modern and conducive learning environment for our students and faculty. We are on the verge of moving into this new campus, which will further enhance our ability to deliver quality education and foster academic excellence.

Principal’s Message

Welcome to the College of Natural Resource Management (CNRM), Katari.

As the second principal of this esteemed institution, it is with great pride and enthusiasm that I share with you the progress and achievements of our college. Since its establishment in 2076 BS, CNRM Katari has grown significantly, both in terms of infrastructure and academic excellence. One of our most notable accomplishments during my tenure has been the completion of our new college building, which stands as a testament to our commitment to providing a modern and conducive learning environment for our students.

At CNRM Katari, we are not just a college; we are a community dedicated to the sustainable management and conservation of natural resources. Our program in BSc Forestry is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to address the complex challenges facing our forests and natural ecosystems. We are proud to be shaping the future of forestry in Nepal, with a special emphasis on practical, hands-on learning.

I am particularly proud of the diverse and dynamic team of faculty and staff at CNRM. Our college is unique in that it is largely female-led, with a majority of our faculty and staff being women. This has fostered an inclusive and supportive environment where all voices are heard and valued. Our female-dominated team brings a unique perspective to forestry education, and I believe this diversity is one of our greatest strengths.
