Dr. Bhuminand Devkota is a distinguished Professor of
Theriogenology at Agriculture and Forestry University, Nepal, and former Dean
of the Faculty of Animal Science, Veterinary Science and Fisheries. He also
served as Director of the Postgraduate Program and the Center for
Biotechnology. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from
Pakistan and completed his PhD in Japan with outstanding academic distinction.
He further strengthened his international academic profile by serving as a
Foreign Visiting Professor at Iwate University
from 2010 to 2013. In recognition of his scholarly excellence and professional
contributions, Prof. Devkota has received several prestigious honors, including
the Excellent Research Award from the Japanese Society of Veterinary Medical
Sciences, the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Pashudhan Bikram Award from
the Nepal Veterinary Association, and the Hall of Fame Award from the Nepal
Veterinary Students Association. A pioneering clinician and academic leader, he
introduced reproductive ultrasonography to Nepal, significantly advancing
veterinary education, clinical services, and research. His research focuses on
livestock reproductive health, particularly buffalo fertility,
nutrition–reproduction interactions, and innovative ovulation synchronization
protocols. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications in
international SCI journals. His academic leadership extends globally, notably
serving as the President of the Asian Buffalo Association from 2018 to 2021.
